For my final project, I am going to practice the Van Dyke process because I loved the way they turned out when our class made them. I was going to try the process, but I chose to do salt printing instead because it fit my subject matter better. When I saw the beautiful Van Dykes people made I felt a little upset that I hadn’t given it a try and I knew I wanted to. I also already have a kit for that process, and I am on a pretty tight budget, so i figured this is the perfect time to use it. Luckily, I am more than happy to experiment with Van Dyke and try all the possibilities of different papers and fabrics to present my final project.
The subject I would like to shoot for my project is cityscapes. I am going home for Thanksgiving and will be going into New York City to shoot, so I think the Van Dyke process could make beautiful cityscapes. Unfortunately, I will not have any work in progress photos, however, I have photographed the city before. I have always loved to shoot NYC, being that it is my favorite city, but since being at college, I have not been able to do it as much, so I’m looking forward to exploring it again. I will be shooting mostly digital, but I may use the Holga camera I signed out to shoot some 120 film depending how good they turn out.

Mark Seliger: I love Seliger's work because he does an amazing job combing three of my favorite things: music, fashion, and photography. He is a famous for his portraiture and has shot many famous musicians, actors, and actresses.
